Catalyst Systems Corporation Launches the Openmake Virtual User Group
GLENCOE, Ill., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- On February 8, 2005, Catalyst Systems Corporation formally announced the launch of it's virtual User Group Community, the OpenForum and the Openmake Discussion Forum. This virtual Openmake User Community is delivered to the Openmake Users in two ways. First, OpenForum is the "next" generation of User Group meetings presented via Internet Web Conferencing on a quarterly basis and presented by the Openmake Technical Team. It is used to provide information on advanced Openmake features and to allow a forum for Openmake Users to share information in a group setting. OpenForum participants can view the presenters, ask questions online and receive immediate feedback.
Secondly, the Discussion Forum provides Openmake Users a place to share Openmake information such as tips, techniques and best practices for performing builds using Openmake on a daily basis. The Discussion Forum is a User Community discussion thread designed to allow Openmake Users to openly share information. The Discussion Forum is broken into several specific categories including discussion threads for Java Developers, .Net Developers, and C/C++ Developers. Users can post questions regarding these specific topics, share details regarding custom Build Types and provide "real world" examples of how they have implemented Openmake into these specific development environments.
Steve Taylor, President of Catalyst Systems Corporation states, "The OpenForum Virtual User Group is one of the first User Groups hosted via Internet Web Conferencing. Hosting a User Group in this format allows participants full access to the Openmake User Community without the need for participants to travel or attend meetings after work. It is the next generation of User Group meeting technology." The next OpenForum session is scheduled for April 20, 2005, 4:00 EST. The Discussion Forum is available for immediate use.
Openmake is an evolutionary build management tool designed to automate the build management process by eliminating the need for writing custom build scripts in XML or make. Openmake supports a wide variety of tools including IBM's Websphere Studio Application Developer, and Microsoft's .Net. For native Java Developers, Openmake leverages the use of Ant providing the flexibility of Ant without the need for XML scripting. Openmake supports a collaborative engineering process that allows developers to contribute to the build while ensuring standardization and consistency across all platforms.
