Stan Lee and Ringo Starr Team to Develop New Superhero Franchise
Stan Lee's POW! Entertainment has forged a joint venture partnership with Ringo Starr to create and launch an original entertainment franchise. Financed, produced and distributed by I-D-T Entertainment, the new animation will transform Ringo Starr into an evil-battling, earth-saving (though reluctant) superhero with a great sense of rhythm. I-D-T Entertainment is a subsidiary of I-D-T Corporation, an international telecom, entertainment and technology company. Legendary comic book creator Stan Lee and his new company will develop the superhero project with Ringo and his entertainment company Rocca Bella for television, home entertainment/D-V-D, publishing and all categories of licensing and merchandising. Production on the animated series will begin in 2005 with a planned D-V-D roll-out first quarter of 2006.

Sony Pictures Plans Major Harold Lloyd Retrospective This Spring
For the delight of a new generation of filmgoers, Sony Pictures Releasing is reissuing the classic films of Harold Lloyd. Jeff Blake, vice-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment and President of Worldwide Marketing and Distribution for the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group has announced that Lloyd's classic films, including Safety Last! and The Freshman, will be released beginning April 20, the 112th anniversary of Lloyd's birth. The films, made available by the Harold Lloyd Trust, will premiere at the Film Forum in New York. Additional cities including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston and Chicago will follow. Many of the silent titles will feature newly recorded scores.

Film Legend Paul Newman Celebrates His 80th Birthday Today and Races for New Record at Next Week's Rolex 24 at Daytona in Disney and Pixar Sponsored Racecar
At an age when most people think about slowing down, film legend Paul Newman, who celebrated his 80th birthday on January 26th, is set to put the pedal to the metal behind the wheel of a Disney and Pixar sponsored racecar on February 4th, and race for a new record at the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The Academy Award-winning actor, who voices the character of a 1951 Hudson Hornet named Doc Hudson in the summer 2006 computer-animated feature, "Cars" (a Disney presentation of a Pixar Film), already holds a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest driver to win a professionally sanctioned race in 1995 at Daytona. Newman will be joined by Sebastien Bourdais, Cristiano da Matta, and Michael Brockman, Newman's co-driver when they won the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in 1995.

Kid Rock to Warner Pub: 'Time to Move On'
With 20 million album sales under his belt, Kid Rock has completed his obligations to Warner Chappell's B-M-I affiliated publishing company, Warner Tamerlane. While Warner expressed a strong interest in continuing their relationship with the Detroit based rocker, Kid Rock has decided to move on saying "We've had a great run and we'll miss many of the individuals at Warner's publishing company. We wish them all the best." Coming off a hugely successful 2004 tour that sold nearly 900,000 tickets but received little or no support from Warner Group's Atlantic label or Warner Chappell Music, Rock felt it was time to move his new projects forward with partners that are more interested in music than I-P-O's.
