Pittsburgh Technology Council Announces CIO of the Year Winners
PITTSBURGH, Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pittsburgh Technology Council announced the winners of its CIO of the year awards last night at a gala dinner event held at the Heinz Regional History Center downtown.
The awards were given to chief information officers or technology executives honoring achievements in innovation, planning and deploying their enterprise systems, in addition to their management philosophies and service to the industry and community.
Awards were given in five distinct categories, and the winners of each are listed below.
Non-Profit <500: Non-profit organizations with less than 500 employees
Finalists demonstrated excellence in managing their organization's enterprise-wide information systems; they illustrated the growing significance of the role of the CIO and the impact it has within an organization, an industry and the local community.
Winner: Daniel S. Drawbaugh, UPMC
Non-profit >500: Non-profit organizations with more than 500 employees
Finalists have shown excellence in managing their organization's enterprise-wide information systems, and they have illustrated the growing significance of the role of the CIO and the impact it has within an organization, an industry and the local community.
Winner: Jonathan M. Edmonds, Pittsburgh Cultural Trust
Global: Companies with more than 500 employees
Finalists exemplified leadership and innovation in the use of information technology to increase their organization's ability to compete with new products and services, enter new markets, increase customer satisfaction and operate more efficiently.
Winner: Steven W. Agnoli, Kirkpatrick & Lockhart LLP.
Enterprise: Companies with 100 to 500 employees
Considered to be a driving force for the adoption and execution of best- practice technology, finalists have contributed to growth and achievement in the technology industry by advancing the use of information technology in their companies.
Winner: Bruno Hall, Laurel Networks
Growth: Companies with fewer than 100 employees
Finalists in this category have created a culture of operational excellence and high performance leading to unprecedented business results. They are responsible for providing increased value while simplifying platforms, streamlining applications, reducing costs and delivering world- class services.
Winner: Joseph V. Rodella, RoData, Inc.
"The judging committee was very gratified by the quality of the stable of finalists this year," said Jared Roberts, managing director of the Pittsburgh Technology Council's IT Network. "The depth and breadth of expertise among these individuals exemplifies the high level of talent and technology innovation throughout the region which the CIO of the Year Awards showcases."
Finalists for the awards were judged by a committee, consisting of members and staff of the Greater Pittsburgh CIO Group, the Pittsburgh Technology Council, advisory board members from both organizations and other regional technology leaders. Candidates were required to:
* be employed as a chief information officer or hold the most senior
level information technology position within his or her employer's
organization
* be employed by a southwestern Pennsylvania-based business or oversee IT
responsibilities at a subsidiary based in the region
* have a minimum of three years of IT executive experience
* possess primary responsibility for the technical performance of his or
her employer's organization
* demonstrate innovative leadership through effective use of technology
in support of the strategic initiatives of his/her organization
* represent the highest standards of leadership in information technology
* garner the respect and be recognized as a role model by his or her
peers and employees
