MatchNet plc Changes Its Name to Spark Networks plc

Company Believes the Move Will More Strongly Differentiate It in the Marketplace

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- MatchNet plc, a leading provider of online personals in the United States and internationally, today announced that the company has changed its corporate name to Spark Networks plc, effective today. The company's Depositary Shares will continue to trade on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange under the symbol "MHJG."

The company said it believes the word Spark possesses imagery that makes it particularly relevant to the online personals business, and that it expects the Spark Networks name to more sharply distinguish the company in the marketplace. It also said that the new name will be communicated in a contemporary and stylized logotype with orange as its dominant color.

The company's shareholders approved the name change at its recent Annual General Meeting and, in accordance with the resolution passed at the meeting, the new name was filed and registered today at the Companies House office in London.

The company also said that it has launched a new corporate Web site at www.spark-networks.com.
