Study Reports CACHE Post-relational Database Surpasses Oracle in Market Share

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- InterSystems Corporation today announced its CACHE post-relational database has the highest growth rate among the top ten products in the embedded database sector, according to a recently released report from IDC.

Fast Growth in Post-relational Database Segment

The new IDC report, "Worldwide Embedded Database Management Systems 2003 Vendor Shares, IDC Doc#32468, December 2004", cites the post-relational database component as the fastest growing segment of the worldwide embedded database market, which grew by 11 percent to $1.128 billion in 2003. In addition to surpassing other market leaders with a growth rate of 38 percent, InterSystems outstripped Oracle to move into the number two slot for embedded database market share with revenues of about $141 million. "As IT systems move increasingly toward deployment of service-oriented architectures (SOAs) ... CACHE stands to gain ground across the board going forward," according to the report.
