Grand Awards Announced at New York Festivals 2005 Television, Cinema and Radio Advertising Awards

DDB and J Walter Thompson shops in Germany and Argentina among top winners in TV; McHale Barone in New York wins Radio Grand

NEW YORK, Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The winners of the New York Festivals 48th annual international TV, Cinema & Radio Advertising Awards were announced at a glittering black tie Awards Presentation in New York last night. The Awards ceremony was opened by Jim Ferguson, chairman and chief creative officer of Temerlin McClain and Chairman of the New York Festivals' Board of Advertising judges. The ceremony was held at the Hudson Theatre in the heart of Manhattan's theater district and attended by some 250 senior advertising executives and their clients from around the world.

In Television Advertising, the Grand Award for Best Commercial was awarded to J Walter Thompson of Capital Federal, Argentina, for their delightful Corporate Image spot for Aerolineas Argetinas, 'Shadow'.

The Grand Award for Best Campaign was presented to a hilarious series of spots created by TAXI of Toronto, Canada, for the Canadian Film Centre's Worldwide Short Film Festival, 'Love Scene/Good Cop, Bad Cop/Establishing a Character'.

The Grand Award for Best Cinema Commercial went to DDB Germany in Berlin for the charming 'Kids On Steps' spot for Volkswagen Golf DSG.

The Grand Award for Best Public Service Advertising was awarded to 'We Gave Blood', a simple and powerful spot for the Australian Red Cross from Caravan Pictures in Rozelle, Australia.

The Grand Award for Best Creative or Production Achievement in Television Advertising went to Gorgeous Enterprises in London, United Kingdom, for the much lauded Sony Playstation 2 spot, 'Mountain'.

Finally, the Grand Award for Best Radio Advertising was presented to New York-based McHale Barone for their highly amusing National Thoroughbred Racing Association's campaign, 'Amusement Par/Golf/Road Trip'.

The 2005 TV, Cinema & Radio Advertising Awards has seen an increase in the number of countries participating -- 58, compared with 55 last year. The lengthy process of peer review judging was carried out entirely online. Over 3,000 entries were judged, and the highest scoring entries were selected for the "Best of Festival" Grand Awards judging held in New York on Monday. January 24, 2005.

The New York Festivals International TV, Cinema & Radio Advertising Awards recognize "The World's Best Work" in product and consumer advertising, public service advertising, and craft/technique.
