Athletes, Celebrities Kick Off Weekend of Parties at Plush

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- In a week that will bring football's best and brightest together for Super Bowl XXXIX in Jacksonville, some of football's legendary players, along with the hottest celebrities, will kick off a weekend of star-studded parties with the Football Legends Series: Running Back-in-Time and PURE RUSH on February 3.

Both parties take place at Plush/Leopard Lounge (845 University Blvd. N.). The evening kicks off with the first of two red-carpet arrivals, the Football Legends Series: Running Back-In-Time, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The inaugural event celebrates NFL running backs who have reached the 10,000-yard milestone. Hundreds of football legends will gather for a private reception where some of the sport's most extraordinary running backs will be honored. Attendees include Eddie George, Tony Dorsett, Mercury Morris and Ricky Watters.

Immediately following the reception at 10:00 p.m. (9:00 p.m. for VIP guests), the public is invited to take part in a festive, old-school "Back-in- Time" celebration featuring music from the '60s, '70s and '80s. NFL legends Chuck Foreman of the Minnesota Vikings and Ottis Anderson of the New York Giants host the evening, which features a silent auction of autographed sports, movie and music memorabilia. All auction profits will benefit The Children's Miracle Network in Jacksonville.

Invited guests to the event include Troy Aikman, Roger Staubach, John Elway, Terry Bradshaw, Barry Sanders, Cris Carter, Herschel Walker, Deion Sanders, Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, Jerome Bettis, Joe Namath, Eric Dickerson, Dick Butkus and Ed "Too Tall" Jones.

Immediately following the Football Legends Series: Running Back-in-Time, a second red carpet heats up for PURE RUSH. Named "the best party of Super Bowl Weekend" by the Houston Chronicle last year, PURE RUSH/TOAST will host a high-profile red-carpet event catering to athletes, musicians and celebrities in town for the Big Game. Past guests have included Kid Rock, Roger Clemens, Ashton Kutcher, Barry Bonds, Brian McKnight, Carmen Electra, Carson Daly, Chris Klein, David Wells, Gillian Barberie, Jamal Anderson, Jason Giambi and Jay-Z.
