PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Divine Eros is a narrative photography exhibit presented by the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Arts Commission. The first Thursday Artists opening will be on February 3rd, 2005 from 5:00pm-7:00pm and is open to the public. The show will run from February 3rd through February 26th. Trinity Episcopal Cathedral is located at 147 NW 19th Ave. in Portland.
Divine Eros is a narrative photography project highlighting the lives of women mystics from the past millennium through the creative medium of photography and word. Each of these women's lives and teachings focuses upon qualities of the heart. In Divine Eros, these women's stories remind us of this heart wisdom and prompt us to question what role these qualities play in our own lives. Finally, these stories remind us that the heart is the doorway to our own direct connection with the divine and to our own capacity for wholeness. Maryanne Bilham, photographer, and Peter Eastwood, stylist, offer us haunting and beautiful renditions of each woman through the poetic lens of the camera, and Dawn Thompson, writer, highlights the courage and grace of each woman's story.
Photographer, Maryanne Bilham, has had her work displayed at the Grammy Art of Music Exhibit at Caesars Palace Las Vegas and the Kodak Rock X-posed Exhibit at the Rio Las Vegas. Maryanne and partner Robert Knight have photographic installations on the outside of 100 Guitar Centers throughout the US. In 2003 Maryanne received 2nd place in the International Photography Awards Underwater Section for "Christina the Astonishing," a photograph which is part of the Divine Eros project. Writer, Dawn Thompson, has a BA in Journalism from the University of Oregon and a MA in Creation Spirituality form Naropa University. Dawn is the author of "Light Looking at Itself" and is currently working on a book of poetry entitled "The Physics of Thought." Stylist, Peter Eastwood, was born in England, spent 17 years in Hong Kong and since 1995 has been living in Vancouver, Canada. Peter has worked as a wardrobe stylist, set designer and producer with Maryanne Bilham on many commercial projects over the past 20 years.
