Active Recognition Technologies to Showcase V-Metrics LPR Software With SecurteX at Intersec 2005

Active Recognition Technologies to Showcase V-Metrics LPR Software With SecurteX at Intersec 2005

PHOENIX, Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Active Recognition Technologies (ART), a developer of advanced vehicle and license plate recognition (LPR) software, will showcase its V-Metrics(TM) software at Intersec 2005, Jan. 15-17 in Dubai. ART today announced a partner agreement with SecurteX International, a leader in digital video technology, and will be in the SecurteX ME booth at the show.

"SecurteX ME has an established presence in the Middle East and is an excellent partner for us to introduce V-Metrics software," said Alex Parrish, vice president business development, Active Recognition Technologies. "There is strong demand in this region for security solutions. V-Metrics is an advanced, feature-rich LPR that matches the needs of increased governmental and commercial security measures and enforcement applications."

Parrish will be traveling to Dubai from the company's Pittsburgh office to work with Securtex ME and potential resellers in the Middle East.

V-Metrics automates access control by automatically identifying that a vehicle is present, finding and reading the license plate, then instantly comparing that information to a categorized "hot list." If matched, the system alerts a guard to the approach of an unwanted vehicle, or sends a real-time alarm to an external device to initiate appropriate action.

"V-Metrics enhances security by preventing unwanted vehicles from entering the premises," added ART CEO, Arthur Lawida.

A visual record of vehicle entrance and exit is also kept in a database for future retrieval. This enables quick, easy post-event research.

"Our technology raises the standard," Lawida continued. "V-Metrics addresses many of the limitations of typical LPR software, offering enhanced options and superior operating performance."

Unlike typical LPR software, V-Metrics offers total vehicle recognition using a combination of color, shape, and license plate. License plates, like other security tokens, can be lost, faked, stolen or shared. ART's LPR technology analyzes that the right license plate is present on the correct vehicle.

V-Metrics works in controlled or adverse environments, regardless of lighting and weather conditions and with stationary or moving vehicles. V-Metrics employs a unique combination of vehicle matching algorithms, which enables vehicle identification with a high degree of accuracy even if the license plate is partially obscured. The software is easily integrated with existing hardware and software systems.

V-Metrics is sold exclusively through resellers and is designed to be integrated with other software programs or hardware systems.

Intersec 2005 is entering its 7th successful year as the Middle East's premier and largest combined security exhibition and conference. Intersec will host over 300 exhibitors from 40 countries.
