WASHINGTON, and SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y., Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The Wounded Warrior Project and Wurld Media, Inc. today launched Shop for the Troops (http://www.shopforthetroops.com/ ), an e-commerce fundraising program that allows supporters to help the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who have been severely injured in Afghanistan, Iraq and other areas of conflict around the world.
Shop for the Troops is powered by Wurld Media's BuyersPort Networks, an incentive-based e-commerce portal that has been customized for the Wounded Warrior Project. Supporters will be reminded of their ongoing assistance every time they shop online with over 500 participating retailers. A portion of every dollar spent will automatically be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.
"Shop for the Troops is a simple, straightforward program that lets concerned Americans provide assistance to those who have made the greatest sacrifices for their country," said John Melia, Director of the Wounded Warrior Project. "The Internet has become a vital tool in our everyday lives -- and now consumers, at no additional costs to themselves, can make a difference to American heroes simply by shopping online."
"We are thrilled to provide an opportunity for every person shopping online to make a big difference in the lives of those who have been injured in armed conflict," said Gregory Kerber, CEO and Chairman of Wurld Media. "This crucial program addresses the immediate needs of our soldiers and their families. With approximately 115 million Americans shopping online today, Shop for the Troops has the potential to greatly assist the Wounded Warrior Project in providing aid and assistance to injured veterans and their families."
