Spectra-Physics Deploys Coveo Enterprise Search for Departmental Intranets
Enterprise Search Tool With Superior Precision Replaces Competitor
PALO ALTO, Calif. and QUEBEC, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Coveo Solutions Inc., pioneer of integrated and secure search solutions for the desktop, Intranet and Web, today announced that Spectra-Physics, a leading manufacturer of laser and photonics supplies and equipment, has implemented Coveo Enterprise Search (CES) for its engineering and marketing department intranets. CES was deployed as a replacement for a competitor's product whose administrative functionality and search relevance were deemed unsatisfactory after testing.
A pure search application tailored specifically for business use, CES addresses the issues of high cost, complexity and long deployment cycle associated with typical enterprise search solutions. CES installs quickly and easily so that administrators can provide their users with a unified, web-based view of results from all available resources on the network within minutes of downloading the software. Integrated security and data protection leveraging existing Microsoft security structures ensure that sensitive data is not exposed to unauthorized users.
Spectra-Physics uses CES to enable its engineers and marketers to efficiently find and reuse materials such as product specifications, electronic presentations and other confidential corporate information. The previous search tool was removed because its administration was awkward and the accuracy of its results was insufficient to meet the project requirements.
"We tried implementing another search product, but we found that the results quality was at such an unacceptable level that we were reluctant to roll it out to our users," said Mark Rowell, Director of IT for Spectra-Physics. "We moved to CES primarily because its outstanding precision and intuitive administrative interface make it a remarkably effective solution for both users and administrators. It was a great fit for our project because it delivers significant value for a reasonable price."
"This situation is a perfect illustration of the strengths of CES," said Laurent Simoneau, Coveo President and CEO. "Here at Coveo our focus has been on developing an enterprise-class search product that delivers exceptional relevance and security and presents a realistic option for customers with rigorous project needs and stringent budget requirements."
