PA Department of Agriculture Launches New Website

HARRISBURG, Pa., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Dennis Wolff today announced the launch of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture's new Web site at http://www.agriculture.state.pa.us/.

"From produce to hardwoods, the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture regulates and promotes all segments of agriculture," said Wolff. "In today's information society, the Web is an increasingly important tool. Our new site is designed to educate the public about the diversity and scope of the state's agriculture in an aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly fashion."

Information on the new site is organized into five major categories:

-- Consumers - This section includes information on buying PA products,
fairs, food safety, dog law, food and housing assistance programs,
pesticides and racing.
-- Business and Industry - Designed for business interests, information
available in this section includes small business assistance, food
safety handling and marketing programs.
-- Producers - Geared toward agricultural producers, this covers farmland
preservation, the Bicentennial Farm Program, farm labor requirements
and funding opportunities.
-- Students and Educators - Visitors to this section can find information
on scholarships, agricultural production, school lunches and special
events.
-- Online Services - Search for nursery dealers in Pennsylvania, find
producer growers participating in Simply Delicious ... Simply
Nutritious, and sign up for the PA Preferred Program.
