MPC Computers Enriches Bowl Game With Technology Showcase

PC Company Features Wireless Internet, Digital Home Demonstrations at MPC Computers Bowl

NAMPA, Idaho, Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- MPC Computers, a Gores Technology Group company, will be highlighting the latest in PC and Internet technology at the MPC Computers Bowl, a major college football bowl game being played on December 27th in Boise, Idaho. MPC has designed an elaborate Technology Pavilion at the stadium, providing guests at the Pavilion with an opportunity to learn about the newest innovations in personal computing and high-speed wireless Internet. These fans will be able to personally experience this technology through interactive, hands-on demos.

MPC's Technology Pavilion will feature MPC's latest desktops and notebooks showcasing the newest software for entertainment and multimedia. The systems will feature the latest Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 software, which offers exciting capabilities for enjoying complete digital entertainment, including live and recorded television, music, photos and more. The demonstrations will be integrated with the live football game, and will include viewing of the live ESPN broadcast along with Personal Video Recorder features.

In addition, MPC will be "unwiring" Boise's Bronco Stadium with wireless Internet capabilities provided by Intel and HOTSPOTZZ, one of the nation's leading providers of WiFi "hotspots". Using wireless-enabled devices, such as MPC Centrino Mobile Technology laptops, game attendees will be able to experience ESPN's enhanced web coverage of the game as well as view real-time game statistics reported from the press box. News reporters can also log on to the HOTSPOTZZ network to chart game statistics and send photos, stories and video footage back to their newsrooms.

"We are very excited to bring today's hottest technology directly into the hands of fans at the MPC Computers Bowl," said Mike Adkins, MPC's President and CEO. "As a technology company, we want to highlight the latest breakthroughs in our industry at this exciting event. By working with partners such as Microsoft, Intel and HOTSPOTZZ, we will be demonstrating how the latest technology will enhance people's lives."

"We are pleased that Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 PCs will be a part of the MPC Computers exhibit, which will showcase how consumers can get the most out of their digital entertainment, including ways to enjoy digital pictures and videos, never miss their favorite televised sporting events, and communicate with other sports fans," said Bill Mannion, Director of Marketing, Windows Consumer Marketing at Microsoft Corp. "With the Media Center Edition 2005, we are giving consumers more choice for managing and sharing integrated digital entertainment in their homes and on the go."

"Unwiring Bronco stadium is a great example of the benefits of wireless computing and a mobile lifestyle. Using Intel Centrino mobile technology, sports fans will be able to enhance their game day experience by accessing player statistics, game scores and play-by-play analysis via the Internet," said Tom Kilroy, vice president of sales and marketing, Intel Corp. "Intel Centrino mobile technology delivers outstanding mobile performance and

integrated wireless LAN capability, with energy saving technologies to help extend system battery life in a choice of sleek form factors."

"We want to give fans and reporters the opportunity to stay connected during the game," said Henry Smith, HOTSPOTZZ CEO. "HOTSPOTZZ technology lets attendees view real-time stats, check email, and surf the Web wirelessly during the game. Wi-Fi is all about enhancing the fan experience with relevant information."

The Technology Pavilion will be open from 10:00am - 4:00pm on December 27th, as part of the corporate tent village associated with the MPC Computers Bowl.
