NEW YORK, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- iWay Software, an Information Builders company and the world's leading adapter vendor, today announced its product direction for 2005. iWay Software will continue to develop adapters, the Universal Adapter Framework, and a new generation of business function adapters to enable service oriented architectures (SOA).

iWay Software was founded as an adapter company in January 2001. Since then, it has established itself as the largest player in this new market. Its product line evolved from a handful of data adapters to a highly sophisticated Universal Adapter Framework. The products not only appeal to direct customers, but they also have experienced great success in the channels market. Most major integration software vendors choose to partner with iWay Software to offer some or all of the Universal Adapter Framework.

"Currently, we're working on the next generation of adapters, which are very intelligent SOA tools," says John Senor, president of iWay Software. "Imagine a world where integration is based on reusable adapter technologies that just know how to navigate and manipulate complex application functions - we will help our customers and business partners get there."

In 2005, iWay Software will work to expand the breadth and depth of the Universal Adapter Framework and develop the next generation of adapters, called Service Adapters. Service Adapters will have the ability to self- integrate with systems, perform complex orchestrations, and respond to changes within the information network. From a user's perspective, they see a list of Web services from various information systems, labeled employee, chart of accounts, purchase order, etc. From that list, they can select the service to be provided. For the user, it doesn't matter - they request a service and it is simply performed by utilizing the most appropriate information system.
