Inetcam and Dotworkz Bring Sand, Surf, and Sun Close at Hand
SAN DIEGO, Dec. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- You can now see paradise live on your mobile phone. That is how Inetcam, Inc. and Dotworkz Systems, both San Diego-based companies, have helped Playground, a Vancouver-based real estate developer, market its Caribbean resort in the Turks & Caicos Islands.
Playground recently installed a Canon VB-C50i network camera with a Dotworkz Cell Dome(TM) enclosure on its Veranda development. The upscale village community is currently under construction, with expected completion in 2006. To attract buyers prior to occupancy, Playground made real-time, work-in-progress images of Veranda available online. Invited customers could view the construction either on their personal computers, or by tapping in on their cell phones.
Real-time images are first transmitted by the Dotworkz CellDome(TM) wirelessly over existing cellular networks. This saves Playground from installing cables normally required to connect network cameras to the Internet. Inetcam then makes images accessible by cell phone users with the company's iMViewer(TM) mobile client. Patented technology ensures secure and fast-response exchange of information, allowing images to be broadcast only to authorized users.
This means potential buyers of Veranda in New York, Toronto, or even Tokyo can dial in with their cell phones and see exactly how their new homes will look like. They can easily control the camera by pushing a few buttons on their phones, so that they could focus in on every corner of the property, down to the white-sand beaches and clear, turquoise sea in the background.
"This is another step in our mission to allow our customers to access any video, anytime and anywhere," said Al Cavagnero, CEO of Inetcam, Inc. "Cell phones are ubiquitous today, and our customers can now utilize them not only as security devices, but also a marketing tool."
"Clients will usually not buy a property without an on-site inspection," says Bob Buttaro, Marketing Specialist at Playground. "But with Dotworkz and Inetcam, we bridged the gap between the limitations of a color brochure, and a time-consuming trip here. Many people simply cannot come down until vacation time, so that that the camera gives them instant access to our progress."
Already, customer response has proven positive. A buyer from the Northeast recently inked the deal on a property after viewing the Veranda site on their cell phone. The clear, real-time images gave them reassurance that the location was exactly what they had in mind.
"IP-based cameras have demonstrated to be great marketing tools," explains Will Ferris, CEO of Dotworkz Systems. "The potentials are nearly endless in what they can do to boost sales for any enterprise."
