Hylas Publishing Acquires The Rights To Publishing Sorryeverybody
IRVINGTON, N.Y., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Sean Moore, President of Hylas Publishing, announced today that Hylas has acquired the book rights to the hugely popular and highly trafficked Web site www.sorryeverybody.com. "We are turning this book around very quickly and will have it in stores by January 20, 2005, in time for Inauguration Day," says Moore. Twenty-year-old University of Southern California student James Zetlen launched www.sorryeverybody.com on November 4 as a way for Americans to express their disappointment (and, sometimes, outrage) about the results of the election and how it will affect people around the world for the next four years. To date, more than 26,000 people have uploaded their thoughts, images, and opinions to the site. Sorryeverybody.com has become an international phenomenon, receiving more than 75 million hits from people around the world. After announcing the book project on the site, Zetlen reported receiving more than 700 comments in just a few hours.
The $14.95, 256-page Sorry Everybody book will be in stores in time for the inauguration and will feature photographs that have appeared on the site: Democrats and Republicans; priests and marines; professors and veterans; suburban moms and hipsters and hipster suburban moms; mountain climbers, divers, and businesspeople; women with gray hair, boys with blue hair, and girls with pink hair; gay people and straight people; people from California to New York to Ohio to Texas to Arkansas. They've all come together between the covers of this book to say, "Sorry, everybody."
Sorry Everybody features a foreword by Ted Rall, America's hardest-hitting editorial cartoonist for Universal Press Syndicate, and an award-winning commentator who also works as an illustrator, columnist, and radio commentator.
"What made the Web site so wonderful," says Sean Moore, "is the reality of it. You could really see just how these people felt after the election. The effect was breathtaking. We are taking that feeling and translating it into a photo journal."
Zetlen says, "I started this Web site because I wanted to apologize for not doing enough for the election and asked people to share their thoughts along with mine. It was a way for Americans to release their frustration and to tell the world how truly sorry they were for the outcome of the election. The world needs to understand that there are people in America who don't like what our government is doing. And from the mail we're receiving, there are people in the international community who appreciate this," says Zetlen.
"This Web site and its impact are enormous," says publisher Sean Moore. "When I saw it, I thought a book was a natural. Now readers will be able to flip through the pages of America's reaction to what will likely go down in history as a landmark election."
