Electronic Lifestyle Integration, Inc. (ELI) Announces First Managed Broadband Security Appliance for the Home
Eli Device Aims to Fill Crucial Home Broadband Security Void
MALVERN, Pa., Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to address the growing concerns over high-speed Internet security in the home, Electronic Lifestyle Integration, Inc. announces the arrival of 'Eli,' its new broadband security appliance. Combining a comprehensive managed services package with a breadth of security features previously associated only with large businesses, Eli is the first broadband appliance specifically designed to protect against a broad array of Internet security threats at an economical price point.
The home computer, combined with a persistent broadband Internet connection, offers fertile ground to a near epidemic number of worms, viruses, Trojan horses and malicious hackers. Available solutions do not take a comprehensive approach, nor do they address the burden of management that faces the consumer. Eli brings expert-level security to the home network while solving the challenge of delivering complete, proactive service management.
"No other company offers a comprehensive security solution at a price the home consumer can afford," said Susan DiBiase Lutz, CEO of ELI, Inc. "Until now, dealing with the full scope of Internet security threats has required a dizzying combination of software, hardware, and technical expertise far beyond that of the typical home computer user, and at a cost more in line with corporate budgets than that of the typical household. We intend to leverage all of our experience and abilities to make Eli a transformative entity in the home network security sector."
Based on the same technologies successfully employed by corporations around the globe, Eli delivers all of the features necessary to make the Internet a safe computing environment for the home broadband user. Eli combines a broadband modem and wireless router with a full-featured firewall and best-of-breed anti-virus, spam and content filtering solutions. The true differentiator, though, is Eli's managed approach: all monitoring, configuration, and updates to the system are maintained by the Eli team - not the consumer.
"The new frontline in network security is the home," said Robert Smith, CTO of ELI. "As broadband Internet connectivity rapidly expands into households around the world, the home network has become the next fertile ground for Internet perpetrators. Since most businesses have taken measures to combat these threats, the home - with ample computing power and bandwidth, but minimal protection - becomes the next logical target for attack. That is why consumers are now demanding the same grade of security solutions used in the business world. We believe Eli is the first appliance to fulfill those needs."
Both Susan DiBiase Lutz and Robert Smith are well-known and accomplished Internet security professionals. Susan, along with her extensive history of global engineering, sales and executive achievements, was also co-founder of SecureIT, which was purchased by VeriSign Corporation. Lutz currently leads ETSec, an enterprise trust security firm located in Mt. Laurel, NJ. Smith is the designer of numerous security solutions - including Eli - and is the founder of Europe's largest managed security service provider, SNC Secure Networking Company AG. SNC provides managed security services for Europe's leading telecommunications firms.
The Eli product was introduced at the Infosecurity 2004 Conference in New York City today. The company is currently shipping evaluation units, with delivery of large volume production units quoted at six weeks. Immediate marketing and sales outreach will be targeted at large ISPs and other trusted providers to the home market. ELI has announced plans to launch a widespread direct-to-consumer initiative in January of 2005.
