Digital 5 Enables NETGEAR Wireless Digital Media Player

Next-Generation of Connected Device to Stream Digital Content Throughout the Connected Home

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J., Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital 5, Inc., a leading provider of software for streaming of multimedia content, today announced that its AV software enables the new Wireless Digital Media Player (MP115) from NETGEAR (NASDAQ:NTGR), a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products.

Embedded with Digital 5 AV software, the NETGEAR MP115 can stream WMA, MP3, LPCM audio files and industry video formats such as MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, and can render digital photo files in formats such as JPEG, TIFF, PSD, PICT and BMP.

NETGEAR's Wireless Digital Media Player (MP115) wirelessly connects your television to your home computer network and instantly accesses digital music, pictures, and movies from your living room. NETGEAR's MP115 Wireless Digital Media Player lets you use your PC as a media server so you can access and play a large range of digital media file formats via your existing TV.

The NETGEAR Wireless Digital Media Player (MP115) is compatible with your 802.11b or 802.11g wireless network and, making it simple to set up and use, the media player connects to your TV without interfering with your video/DVD player hookup.

NETGEAR's MP115 includes a simple remote control that allows you to navigate through the user interface via your TV or home entertainment system and easily select and play the digital content stored on your PC, or streamed from the Internet, to enjoy in the comfort of your living room.

"We are pleased to work with Digital 5 to bring home entertainment to a new level," said Vivek Pathela, NETGEAR's senior director of product management and marketing for home products. "Now consumers can enjoy their digital content including photos and video as well as audio from the comfort of their living room."

The NETGEAR MP115 includes PC server software, which automatically locates digital image and music files stored on any networked PC in your home. It organizes the content by title, artist, album, genre, and playlist for easier navigation and retrieval.

NETGEAR's MP115 offers 100% digital, high-quality sound, which can be connected through your stereo speakers to enjoy while watching photos and video on the large screen of your TV.

"We are happy to work very closely with NETGEAR and share in their vision of a connected home by implementing our core technology offering in their new Digital Media Adapter product," said Mike Harris, president and COO of Digital 5. "NETGEAR is a strong partner and together we anticipate continuing to lead the market with new and compelling products to expand our presence in the audio and video marketplace."

Additionally, the NETGEAR MP115 will provide the consumer with the ability to remotely auto-upgrade the device firmware and software synchronization, thereby allowing the device to incrementally provide new services and functionality, which will continue to add more value and enhance the devices capabilities.

Digital 5's AV software is complete embedded software, which can run on a number of industry codec ICs. This software can be implemented in many connected consumer devices as a standalone for an AV media device, or embedded as a modular solution into another AV component. The Digital 5 AV platform offers a modular architecture, which allows the flexibility to be easily ported to multiple codec chips in the market today while supporting multiple industry standard DRM solutions such as Windows Media DRM, DTCP/IP and others.
