DALLAS, Dec. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Affiliated Computer Services, Inc., (NYSE:ACS), a premier provider of business process and information technology outsourcing solutions, announced today that Arthur R. McKay, a member of its State Healthcare Solutions line of business, has been re-elected to the Board of Directors of the Private Sector Technology Group (PS-TG).
Mr. McKay, a senior vice president and solutions architect for ACS State Healthcare Solutions, is one of 5 members of the PS-TG Board of Directors. He has been with ACS for 10 years and prior to that in the health care information technology industry more than 20 years.
The charter of PS-TG is to provide a discussion and information forum for a broad-based and diverse group of information technology companies and professionals that provide solutions in the health care information systems environment and all related activities. The group's expertise spans all aspects of the health care information technology industry. In particular, PS-TG serves as an advisory panel to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the states on technology issues affecting the private sector and the Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS).
At the request of CMS, the Private Sector Group developed a white paper on Medicaid Systems in the 21st Century: Challenges & Opportunities. This white paper discussed MMIS procurements, technology, dispute resolution, and suggestions for increasing competition for MMIS contracts. In addition, PS-TG is one of the organizations providing input to CMS on how the National Health Infrastructure Initiative (NHII) and its subset, the Medicaid Information Technology Architecture (MITA) will affect the MMIS as IT Architectural Standards are introduced to support data sharing, outcomes analysis, bioterrorism alerts, and epidemiological monitoring within the $300 billion per year Medicaid program and across the United States health system.
This re-election marks Mr. McKay's 25th year in a PS-TG leadership position, including six times as PS-TG Chairperson.
"The election of Arthur McKay, further positions ACS in a leadership role in health care and demonstrates our expertise in assisting government and industry in setting good public policy," said Harvey V.
