We're looking for accurate, inspiring bone and joint health stories

The Academy opens free entry into the 2017 Media Orthopaedic Reporting Excellence Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill., July 20, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Entry to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) 2017 Media Orthopaedic Reporting Excellence (MORE) Awards is now open. These awards recognize excellence in accurate reporting on musculoskeletal health issues, innovative treatment, preventative care and stories of recovery. The Academy invites all journalists to submit their stories by Monday, October 10, 2016. Members of the public also may nominate a story for a MORE Award.

Eligible entries must have been published or broadcast between October 1, 2015 and October 1, 2016. The submission process is free and easy. Simply email the story link to media@aaos.org.


Stories can cover any bone and joint health-related topic, including orthopaedic conditions, clinical research, musculoskeletal health trends, and health policy, as it relates to musculoskeletal health.

MORE Awards will be given to stories written or produced for a consumer audience in the following categories:


-- National & Local Print Journalism: newspapers, magazines.
-- National & Local Broadcast Journalism: television, radio.
-- Web-specific Journalism: stories created exclusively for an online
audience.
-- Advocacy and Health Policy Journalism: newspapers, magazines, Internet,
television, radio.
"It's inspiring to read, see and hear excellent bone and joint health stories that help to educate the public on the latest orthopaedic trends and advances," said AAOS President Gerald R. Williams, Jr., MD.

The MORE Awards will be presented during an evening banquet in Washington, D.C., at the Academy's National Orthopaedic Leadership Conference on April 27, 2017.
