Is Freedom Rising?

Libertarian Filmmakers and Filmgoers Convene in Las Vegas July 13-16

LAS VEGAS, June 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- "Is Freedom Rising?" That's one of the questions libertarian filmmakers and filmgoers will consider at the Anthem Libertarian Film Festival.

Films selected this year explore freedom, justice, individuality and personal rights. Engaging panels and discussions will follow most screenings with Ed Asner, John McAFee, Brent Bozell, George Gilder, Naomi Brockwell, and Lana Link among the panel participants.

What makes a film libertarian? Says festival director Jo Ann Skousen, "Libertarian films are about choice, opportunity and knocking down obstacles. They demonstrate the power of persuasion over the force of authority. Libertarian films often point out the unintended consequences of government intervention, but they're just as likely to present a protagonist's personal struggle for self-expression."

Anthem is part of a larger convention called FreedomFest, billed as "the world's largest gathering of free minds." With nearly 150 speakers and over 2,000 attendees, it offers a cornucopia of ideas ranging from politics, history, economics and finance to art, history, literature, and music to science and health. "Speakers include publisher Steve Forbes, Whole Foods CEO John Mackey, heavyweight champ George Foreman, Skeptic Magazine publisher Michael Shermer, original Shark Tank entrepreneur Kevin Harrington, and movie producer John Aglialoro," FreedomFest producer Mark Skousen said.

Adam Guillette of the Moving Picture Institute says of the event, "I can't name a conference that has been more beneficial for networking than FreedomFest."

Admission to the Anthem Film Festival is free to FreedomFest attendees, but people who just want to watch the films can purchase a FilmLovers Pass that gives the holder access to all films, film-related panels, the exhibit hall, and the opening night cocktail reception. Tickets for individual films can be purchased at the theater.

Winners of the festival will be announced at the FreedomFest Banquet Saturday night, which includes a performance by the premier swing band, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.

The festival runs in the Sin City Theater on the Mezzanine at Planet Hollywood July 13-16, 2016. For a complete list of the films with synopses, trailer and screening time, go to www.anthemfilmfestival.com.

Anthem Libertarian Film Festival Director Jo Ann Skousen is available for interviews about the festival and the 2016 film selections.
