First-ever TED Session Presented by INTX on the Power of Disruption; Preview of HISTORY's new TV series Roots; Special Showcases on Virtual Reality and Immersive Viewing Experiences
WASHINGTON, May 11, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Leading executives, journalists, and entertainers representing a broad spectrum in the worlds of Internet and Television will headline appearances next week at the Internet & Television Expo (INTX) 2016, the signature annual event for media and entertainment industries. Produced by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA), this year's show will run from Monday, May 16 through Wednesday, May 18 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
With more than 190 exhibitors and over 220 speakers, the INTX Marketplace is where visitors can see and experience some of the trending technologies that are pushing the Internet and media business forward.
General Sessions
Several prominent American journalists will grace the INTX stage early in the week. Journalist and writer Jorge Ramos, anchor and host for Noticiero Univision and Fusion, will join CNN's John King to discuss presidential politics starting at 11:00 a.m. ET on Monday, May 16.
Kara Swisher, Executive Editor at Re/code, will interview Arianna Huffington on Monday, May 16; while Re/code Senior Editor for Media, Peter Kafka, hosts segments during the General Session on Tuesday May 17, which starts at 4:00 p.m. ET. Kafka's guests will include Nigel Eccles, CEO & Co-founder of FanDuel and Periscope's Kayvon Beykpour.
Prominent business executive and public policy speakers will also share their thoughts with INTX attendees during General Sessions. Appearances include Comcast Chairman and CEO, Brian L. Roberts, on Monday May 16; John Stankey, CEO, AT&T Entertainment Group and Pete Cashmore, Founder & CEO of Mashable, on Tuesday May 17; and FCC Chairman Tom Wheeleron Wednesday, May 18.
Among the many General Session highlights will be an exclusive pre-release screening of scenes from HISTORY® Roots, an historical portrait of American slavery recounting the journey of one family and their will to survive and ultimately carry on their legacy despite hardship. The INTX screening takes place at noon on Wednesday, May 18 and will be followed by a conversation with producers and cast including LeVar Burton, who serves as Co-Executive Producer of the program, and who launched his entertainment career as a star of the original Roots television miniseries four decades ago.
Imagine Park
Imagine Park is the live events stage on the INTX Marketplace floor with series of short, high-energy stage events on the newest, most compelling ideas for what's next on the Internet and television networks.
Featured on Imagine Park's stage will be MIT Media Lab's Andrew Lippman who will demo and share details about some of the latest projects at the MIT Media Lab on Monday, May 16 at 12:15 p.m. ET.
Some exciting topics on the Imagine Park stage include: Experiential sports; Virtual reality; Ultra HD/4K; Advertising trends on all forms of video - linear/live, on-demand, over-the-top and mobile; Big data and analytics, including new research from PwC about consumer video behavior; and, LTE-U and wireless technologies.
TED Session Presented by INTX
INTX will feature its first-ever TED Session Presented by INTX, staged and curated in partnership with TED Conferences, LLC. TED taps its rich network of inventive thinkers from the TED Fellows program, to present a program on the power of disruption to spark both ideas and growth. The session will jump-start Day Two of INTX on Tuesday May 17, at 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. ET.

The Lobstah Tank is where Boston-area technology start-ups pitch new businesses and concepts in a head-to-head competition. Early stage companies with great ideas for a new product or service will present their idea to a panel of judges and a live audience on Tuesday, May 17 at 3:00 p.m. in Imagine Park. Watch the best ideas rise to the top for a chance at cash prizes, mentoring, and the opportunity for one-on-one meetings with potential investors.
