MDSR kits allow existing ham radios to be retrofitted to become full featured Software Defined Radios
NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, ON, May 2, 2016 /CNW/ - IES Communications announces that it will become the exclusive distributor of Modulator Demodulator Software Radio (MDSR) kits for Eastern Canada. MDSR kits allow amateur radio operators, commonly known as hams, to modify their radios so that they can be completely controlled via software on a personal computer. By allowing complete software control, the capabilities of ham radios can be enhanced, thus affording operators with a wide range of communications options that can improve their communication effectiveness. MDSR kits are available for a variety of ham radio models, including those manufactured by ICOM, Kenwood and Yaesu.
Eric Meth, founder of IES Communications and ham radio operator with the call sign VE3EI, has been a leader in the Canadian two-way radio communications industry since 1969 added "This agreement will really help IES Communications to continue to service all of its client's needs, especially those that are also ham radio operators.
