OTTAWA and GATINEAU, QC, April 7, 2016 /CNW/ - Starting on April 11, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) will hold a three-week public hearing in Gatineau, Quebec, to review basic telecommunications services in Canada.

In April 2015, the CRTC launched a consultation on the services that Canadians need to participate meaningfully in the digital economy, as well as its role in ensuring the availability of affordable basic telecommunications services across the country.

This proceeding, which is the third consultation period for Let's Talk Broadband Internet, begins on April 11 and is scheduled to finish on Thursday April 28, 2016.

An online consultation forum will be available to Canadians who wish to share comments on issues raised at the hearing and on any other issues reviewed during this important proceeding.

Canadians will be able to watch the hearing on the Cable Public Affairs Channel's (CPAC) website: www.cpac.ca.

A live audio feed of the hearing will be available on the CRTC website at www.crtc.gc.ca.
