LIDS Sports Group, New Era And Old Dominion Kick Off Summer Concert Season With New, Strategic Partnership

LIDS Sports Group, New Era And Old Dominion Kick Off Summer Concert Season With New, Strategic Partnership

INDIANAPOLIS, April 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- LIDS Sports Group, a leading omni-channel sports licensed retailer, and headwear manufacturer New Era, and award-winning country music band Old Dominion have entered into a strategic partnership just in time for summer concert season. The announcement represents LIDS' first-ever music partnership, as well as Old Dominion's first with a corporate brand, and allows the retailer to engage with in-store shoppers in entirely new ways. Supporting the partnership with its product offering is New Era.

In honor of the band's current Top 5 single that is still climbing, "Snapback," the partnership commences with LIDS and New Era's launch of the Old Dominion hat design contest. From now until June 20, shoppers are encouraged to design a hat for the band and submit their design image via Twitter or Instagram by tagging LIDS and Old Dominion while including the hashtags #OldDominionLids and #contest. A design image can also be uploaded through LIDS' dedicated contest microsite. Old Dominion is supporting the design contest through continuous social promotion to fans and recorded vignettes now playing in participating stores. The contest rules are available at There is No Purchase Necessary to Enter or Win the contest.

A winning hat design will be selected each week for the duration of the contest, and the entrant will receive two free tickets to a show agreed upon between the winner and LIDS to see Old Dominion on Kenny Chesney's 2016 Spread the Love Tour. After eight weeks of design selections, those eight designs will be put forward for a fan vote to determine the grand prize winner. This lucky fan will receive a VIP ticket and travel package to a tour stop complete with an Old Dominion meet-and-greet backstage.

With the help of New Era, LIDS will also put the grand prize winner's design into production on a New Era snapback to be sold at participating stores throughout the country. LIDS will also carry the New Era hat that appears in Old Dominion's "Snapback" music video.

"Working with a company like LIDS just makes sense for us," expressed Old Dominion's lead singer Matthew Ramsey. "Every night we play a song we wrote that has now become a hit and was inspired by seeing so many of our fans wearing Snapbacks. Our fans are LIDS customers and we are excited to partner up and bring them into the Old Dominion family."

"We are excited to partner with a group of musicians that exemplify the core values of our brand," said LIDS co-founder Glenn Campbell. "This band is known for its passion and commitment to the music, the same way our patrons are known for their dedication to their favorite sports teams. Their ambition and love of "snapbacks" makes Old Dominion the perfect partner for LIDS."

Old Dominion has emerged as one of the hottest breaking bands in country music and were recently named the Academy of Country Music's New Vocal Duo/Group of the Year. In 2015, Old Dominion released its first full-length album, Meat and Candy, which Entertainment Weekly called a "deceptively smart, occasionally cheeky, stellar debut." They released their debut single "Break Up With Him" to country radio, which topped the charts for two weeks, was Certified GOLD by the RIAA and was named "The Highway's" No.1 Song of 2015 on SiriusXM. "Snapback," the band's highly anticipated second single, is Top 5 and climbing. The band is currently headlining its Meat and Candy Tour and will re-join Kenny Chesney for the second summer on his Spread The Love Tour. Consisting of lead singer Matthew Ramsey, lead guitarist Brad Tursi, multi-instrumentalist Trevor Rosen, bassist Geoff Sprung and drummer Whit Sellers, the band has spent seven years honing their craft, each making a name for themselves in Nashville by penning songs for the likes of Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, Chesney and more.

LIDS Sports Group currently operates more than 1,300 retail locations across North America specializing in headwear, team-specific professional sports and university athletics.
