Congressman Fattah Mourns the Passing of Two Philadelphia Icons
Fattah releases the following statement on the deaths of Barbara Daniel Cox and Billy Paul.
PHILADELPHIA, April 25, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- "On Sunday, Philadelphia lost two iconic personalities; community activist Barbara Daniel Cox and recording artist Billy Paul. My good life-long friend Barbara Daniel Cox was an exceptional woman who did exceptional things. There was not a better person to unite people than Barbara, she had a unique way of bringing people together. She did extraordinary work as the creator of Philadelphia's Black Family Reunion bringing people together to celebrate their culture and their heritage. Barbara was a mentor to many and a friend to all. Her energy, enthusiasm and overall good nature will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
"Not only did I grow up listening to Billy Paul's music but he was around our home often as my mother was his publicist. A South Philly native and loved our city. He was a prolific songwriter and gifted singer.
Renee and I extend our condolences and our prayers and to the families of Barbara Daniel-Cox and Billy Paul."
