The Create® Cooking Challenge Heads Into the Home Stretch

Nationwide Contest Ends February 29, 2016 at 11:59 pm ET

BOSTON, Feb. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Create Cooking Challenge, the national video contest for both professional chefs and home cooks to showcase their culinary talent, has entered its final days.

Sponsored by American Public Television (APT), the Create Cooking Challenge -- the first contest of its kind by the popular public TV lifestyle channel -- kicked off on February 8, 2016. Since then, entries have poured in from all across the United States -- from Nevada to New York, California to Massachusetts, and Wisconsin to Washington State -- from aspiring and established chefs inspired by the possibility of winning their own web series on CreateTV.com.

In addition to generating excitement from fans of the channel, the Create Cooking Challenge is garnering positive press and significant social media buzz.

Participants still have time to submit their "video audition" before the contest officially closes on February 29, 2016 at 11:59 pm ET. Entrants must submit online a single short (two minutes or less), original YouTube video featuring their best culinary project, recipe or tip. Official contest rules and submission guidelines are available at CreateTV.com/challenge.

Between February 16 and March 25, esteemed public television chefs Chris Kimball, Pati Jinich, Jacques Pépin, Sara Moulton and Chef Irie will judge the final entries. This panel will evaluate submissions based on the entrant's demonstrated culinary knowledge, ability to present ideas succinctly, overall telegenic appeal, uniqueness, and the strength of the idea, recipe or tip. A complete list of judging criteria is available on CreateTV.com/challenge/rules.

Winners will be announced on or about April 13, 2016. Prizes range from Create merchandise to $1,000 to finance a 10-episode web series on CreateTV.com.

Create is public television's most-watched, national multicast channel, airing on nearly 230 public TV stations and reaching more than 46 million viewers annually. Now in its 11(th) year, Create® features public television's most popular how-to series, including cooking, travel, home improvement, gardening and arts & crafts. Create is produced and distributed by American Public Television (APT); WNET, New York; and WGBH, Boston in association with National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) and PBS.
