CULVER CITY, Calif., Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --Experience the thrill of Philippe Petit's legendary high-wire walk between the Twin Towers with The Walk VR Experience App debuting today from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE). Users can feel the rush of walking 94 stories in the air with nothing but a wire at their feet in the virtual reality mode. The app can be used on a compatible iPhone or Android smartphone with a compatible virtual reality viewing device such as Merge VR Goggles or Google Cardboard. Users without VR goggles or Google Cardboard can enter 360 video mode to get a birds eye view of 1974 New York using only their mobile devices.

Virtual Reality mode requires a compatible VR viewing device like the Merge VR Goggles or Google Cardboard, and should be used while seated. Synopsis:

Twelve men have walked on the moon, but only one man - Philippe Petit (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) - has ever walked in the immense void between the World Trade Center towers. Guided by his real-life mentor, Papa Rudy (Ben Kingsley), and aided by an unlikely band of international recruits, Petit and his gang overcome long odds, betrayals, dissension and countless close calls to conceive and execute their mad plan. Academy Award(®)-winning director Robert Zemeckis (Best Director, Forrest Gump, 1994) uses advanced technology in the service of an emotional, character-driven story. THE WALK is a love letter to Paris and New York City in the 1970s, but most of all, to the towers of the World Trade Center.
