The DAVE School Wins 5 Pixie Awards, More than Any Other Nominee

Upon celebrating its 15th anniversary, the Digital Animation and Visual Effects (DAVE) School wins more awards than any other school in the nation in the Pixie's 7th annual edition.

ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The DAVE School Graduating Classes of 2015, as well as the Class of June 2014, were recently honored with five Pixie Awards. This is an internationally coveted distinction that recognizes outstanding work in motion graphics, visual effects and animation.

The school won more awards than any other nominee, said Dave Penn, Executive Director of the Digital Animation and Visual Arts (DAVE) School, on the backlot of Universal Studios. "This is a fantastic way to mark our 15(th) anniversary," Penn said. "These awards are a testament to the richness and sophistication of our program, which immerses students in a real life film and game studio production environment from day one."

Four of the awards were in the platinum category, the highest recognition level of the Pixies. These went to:

-- The DAVE School Class of June 2015 and Instructor/Director Tom Bremer in
the animation category for Runners, Part 2. The film is based on Sean
Wang's comic book series Runners. In it, the crew of the Brimia are
chased by rogue bounty hunters trying to cash on the crew's heads. The
executive producers are Jeff and Anne Scheetz, and Dave Penn.
-- The DAVE School Class of December 2014 and Instructor/Director Tom
Bremer in the category, for The Cursed Actor. The film features an
original story by Emmy Award winner Brenner, about a YouTuber who
discovers a mysterious actor in film footage whose presence in the set
appears eerily connected to the death of fellow cast members. The
executive producers are Jeff and Anne Scheetz.
-- The DAVE School Class of September 2015 and Instructor/Director Matt
Killian in the visual effects category for The Thief of Always - Book
Trailer. This flick, based on the novel by Clive Barker, is voiced by
actor John DiMaggio. It tells the story of a mythical Holiday House
where children can celebrate Christmas and Halloween year-round. Such
indulgence however, comes at a hefty price. The executive producer is
Dave Penn.
-- The DAVE School Class of April 2015 and Instructors/Directors Tom Bremer
and Angel Gonzalez, Jr., in the animation category for (TM)Alien
Minimates (©Diamond Select Toys / Fox Entertainment) which features
minimate Ellen Ripley evacuating a civilian research facility. It is
voiced by actors Lance Henriksen and Deborah Marlowe. The executive
producers are Jeff and Anne Scheetz, and Dave Penn.
-- The DAVE School Class of June 2015 and Instructor/Director Angel
Gonzalez, Jr., also received a Gold Pixie Award in the games category
for the gaming trailer Carbon, about a post-apocalyptic world where
corporations take over and cars are the heroes. The executive producers
are Jeff and Anne Scheetz, and Dave Penn.
The Pixie Awards are sponsored by the American Pixel Academy, which connects creative visual professionals in the pixel media with educators developing the next generation of creative professionals.
