MPTF Hosts "What Matters Most" Summit Featuring Scott Simon, Jason Katims, Margaret Nagle and Doc Rivers

Event Leverages Storytelling to Promote Living and Dying with Purpose for Entertainment Industry Members

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MPTF (Motion Picture & Television Fund) is gathering an engaging group of storytellers and subject matter experts at the Montage Beverly Hills on November 15 to lead an important conversation about living and dying with purpose and creating a new narrative about "What Matters Most" in each of our lives.

Over two hundred members of the entertainment industry are expected to attend MPTF's inaugural "What Matters Most" summit, which will feature Scott Simon, Peabody Award-winning correspondent and host of NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday; Parenthood and Friday Night Lights showrunner/executive producer Jason Katims; award-winning film and television screenwriter and television producer Margaret Nagle, and Los Angeles Clippers president of basketball operations and head coach Doc Rivers.

"What matters most is a question we should be asking ourselves at any age. It defines and shapes our purpose. MPTF is excited about convening a diverse and interesting group of voices to drive this discussion, one that has become a national conversation," explains MPTF CEO Bob Beitcher. "This summit leverages the power of storytelling to engage our community in a reflective and purposeful way that promotes value and well-being throughout every stage of life."

"What Matters Most" hopes to inspire industry members to have their own meaningful conversations with friends and family about where they find value in their lives, what energizes them and drives their passions, and what they would most miss if it was taken away from them. MPTF has recently embarked on a "What Matters Most" program on its campus and in the community and will be sponsoring a "what matters" blog post-event at www.mptf.com/whatmatters.

Other experts and nationally recognized speakers include Ira Byock, author and palliative care physician who leads the Providence Institute for Human Caring; Harriet Warshaw, executive director of the Conversation Project; Sam Polk, former Wall Street trader and founder of Groceryships; Paula Span, journalist and author of The New Old Age blog; and Sandra De Castro Buffington, founding director of the UCLA Global Media Center for Social Impact.

Corporate sponsors of the event include UCLA Health, Delta Air Lines, Cedars-Sinai, ARRI Rental, Panavision, Entertainment Partners, Illumination Dynamics, Iron Mountain and Providence Institute for Human Caring. MPTF's "What Matters Most" is an invitation only conference. For more information, visit http://www.mptf.com/events/whatmatters or call (818) 876-1544.
