NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth / KXAS Names Mark Ginther Vice President of News
DALLAS and FORT WORTH, Texas, Aug. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth / KXAS today announced that Mark Ginther has been named Vice President of News for the station. Ginther, who starts his new position September 14, 2015, will be responsible for all aspects of NBC 5 editorial content on television and other media platforms including NBCDFW.com. Ginther will report to Tom Ehlmann, NBC 5 President and General Manager and succeeds Susan Tully, who was recently tapped to lead NBC Connecticut / WVIT.

Ginther is an award-winning news professional with nearly 28 years of media industry experience. Prior to joining NBC 5 and since 2008, he worked as the Executive News Director for KING-TV, an NBC affiliate located in Seattle, Washington and at NWCN Cable, a 24-hr regional cable news network located in Seattle. He is familiar with North Texas having served as Assistant News Director at WFAA-TV, a Dallas-Fort Worth ABC affiliate, from 2006-2008. Ginther also worked as the News Director for WHO-TV, the NBC affiliate located in Des Moines, Iowa. He began his broadcasting career at radio and television stations in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota.
Ginther's news organizations have received numerous awards. This year KING received the national Murrow award for "Overall Excellence" from the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) and the "Service to America" Award from the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). Under his leadership, KING has won two George Foster Peabody Awards, a Columbia DuPont award, a national Emmy award for the station's investigative work and received national recognition for photojournalism and digital storytelling.
Ginther holds a bachelor's degree in Communication and Journalism from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota. He and his family will be relocating to North Texas.
