Chateau Morrisette Winery Celebrates the Arts, Music and Holidays with Memory-Making Fall and Winter 2015 Events

FLOYD, Va., Aug. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Located along Virginia's scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, Chateau Morrisette Winery announces its 2015 fall and winter weekend art, music and holiday events.

From time-honored favorites, such as the Black Dog Beach Music Festival, Murder Mystery evening and Holiday Tree Lighting, to an inspiring art-filled weekend, there's something for everyone. The highly anticipated Holiday Wine Sale begins on Black Friday and lasts through December 31, 2015.

Members of the winery's Kennel Club enjoy an exclusive event in December. By invitation only, they enjoy complimentary wine tastings, delicious foods and a behind-the-scenes experience during Holiday Open Houses and Shoppers Weekend.

Fall and Winter Events


Plein Air Art Weekend, September 11 - 13
Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m., the Plein Air Art weekend kicks off with a welcome reception for registered artists and guests. Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., participating artists enjoy a day of painting and demonstrations on the winery grounds with box lunches available and Farm to Table Dinner sponsored by Riverstone Organic Farm. Beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday, artists may participate in the Quick Draw Competition with a Grand Prize Ceremony to follow at noon. Visitors are free to mingle with and watch artists throughout the weekend, and art will be available for purchase during Sunday Sounds from noon to 2 p.m. in the winery courtyard.

Pet Adoption Day, September 27, 11 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Visit Chateau Morrisette for a day filled with Sunday Sounds' music, wine and animals at the winery's annual Pet Adoption Day! The Floyd Humane Society will bring their adorable furry friends to the winery. If you are looking for a family pet, this will be a great day to begin the adoption process.

The Black Dog Beach Music Festival, October 10, noon - 6 p.m.
This year's annual Black Dog Beach Music Festival features headliners Band of Oz and opening act Landsharks. Purchase tickets and find event details online.

Murder Mystery Interactive Theater, November 7 and 14, 5:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Step Into Mystery hosts a Murder Mystery evening to remember. The event includes a fun interactive mystery, dinner and paired wine, and costs $95 per person, inclusive. For reservations call (540) 593-2865.

Black Friday Holiday Wine Sale Kickoff, November 27, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
The day after Thanksgiving kicks off the winery's annual wine sale, and all day, complimentary wine tastings will be available. During the sale, which ends on December 31, 2015, bottles of wine are discounted 20 percent, and cases of wine are discounted 30 percent.

Holiday Tree Lighting, November 28, 3:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Chateau Morrisette's annual Holiday Tree Lighting is a spectacular event for the entire family. Enjoy holiday music provided by a handbell choir on the balcony followed by the Floyd County Madrigals. Complimentary hot chocolate and Christmas cookies will be available. Wine tastings, wine and gifts are available for purchase as well.


Holiday Open Houses, December 5 - 6, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
The Holiday Open House is a wonderful time to visit Chateau Morrisette. The winery is decorated for the holidays, wine tastings and snacks are complimentary, musicians fill the air with festive music, and the Holiday Wine Sale is in full swing.

Holiday Shoppers Weekend, December 12 - 13, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
During Holiday Shoppers Weekend, enjoy complimentary wine tastings and snacks, live holiday music, and the Holiday Wine Sale.

New Year's Eve, December 31, 2015, 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Kick off New Year's Eve with a delicious prix-fixe menu at the Restaurant at Chateau Morrisette. More details will be available later this fall.
