ONE World Sports To Exclusively Telecast NY Cosmos vs. NYCFC U.S. Open Cup Matchup Live June 17 At 7:30 PM

East River Derby Also to be Streamed At ONEWorldSports.com

STAMFORD, Conn., June 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- ONE World Sports, America's Network for Global Sports, announced today that US Soccer has granted the network the exclusive rights to produce and televise the 4(th) Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match featuring the New York Cosmos vs NYCFC. ONE World Sports is also providing a free livestream on its website, ONEWorldSports.com. As a preview to the network and an opportunity to watch the 4(th) round of the U.S. Open Cup, ONE World Sports is allowing viewers unlimited access to the game, a feature usually requiring authentication with one of the network's pay-TV distributors.

In what could be compared to MLB's Subway Series, the recently crowned NASL Spring Champions New York Cosmos will host MLS' NYCFC in a battle of New York bragging rights in the East River Derby at Hofstra's Shuart Stadium. Former Red Bulls Head Coach Mike Petke, former Cosmos Goalkeeper Shep Messing and Ed Cohen will serve as the announcing team for ONE World Sports, the official broadcast partner of the New York Cosmos.

"American sports enthusiasts want tough competition, high intensity and a great rivalry - the exact climate fans will see when the iconic New York Cosmos host NYCFC," said Alexander "Sandy" Brown, Chairman & CEO, ONE World Sports. "In addition to New York soccer bragging rights, this derby transcends the five boroughs of Manhattan as Spanish standouts Cosmos' Raul and NYCFC's David Villa square off. ONE World Sports looks forward to bringing soccer fans nationwide all the action on television and online."

An encore presentation of ONE World Sports' telecast of the Cosmos vs. NYCFC will air on the YES Network on Thursday, July 18 at 1:00 PM and Friday, July 19 at 7:00 AM.

The New York Cosmos, who clinched the 2015 NASL Spring Season Championship title on Saturday, enter Wednesday's matchup with NYCFC with a 5-0-5 (W-L-T) record after a 3-3 draw against Jacksonville. NYCFC is on a two-game winning streak and its third win of the season, with a 3-1 victory over the Montreal Impact.

The New York Cosmos advanced to the 4(th) Round of the 2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup after a 3-0 win over Jersey Express on May 27. New York City FC will be playing its first match of the competition as the club received a bye through the 3(rd) Round. In last year's US Open competition, the New York Cosmos defeated the New York Red Bulls 3-0 in the 4(th) Round. Dating back to 1914, the U.S. Open Cup is the oldest cup competition in United States soccer and is among the oldest in the world. Open to all affiliated amateur and professional teams in the United States, the annual U.S. Open Cup is a 100-plus-year-old single-elimination tournament. The winner of each country's domestic cup competition, in addition to taking home the prize money, is automatically placed into a tournament to compete against neighboring countries' cup winners.
