Inaugural Music and Arts Festival, L'isola che C'e, to Bring Palermo Together Under Banner of Culture, Entertainment

PALERMO, Italy, June 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- This fall, the community of Villa Castelnuovo on the Italian island of Sicily will play host to a first-of-its-kind arts and entertainment festival. "A journey through sound, color and taste," L'isola che C'e opens on October 15 and will feature four full days of memorable, interactive experiences. The event is a production of arts publication Effeto Arte, and its inaugural theme is the contemporary painter in all his or her forms.

Scheduled events and performances at the festival represent a diverse background of genres and formats. The program includes:

-- Red Ronnie
-- Evolution Dance
-- Dolcenera
-- Matthew Lee
-- Cirque Carillon
-- Olen Cesari
-- Edoardo Bennato
L'isola che C'e will have dedicated spaces for all the four-day happening's events. Visitors can enjoy graphic art and sculpture as part of "The Avenue of Colors," while the "Temple of Art" will feature a series of prestigious contemporary exhibitions. Live music, film screenings and interviews will be the main draw at the "Hangar Zone."

Among the scheduled art exhibitions, one is a particular standout: "The Island of Che" will feature a glimpse of revolutionary Cuba that few have seen. Photos, posters and video interviews relate the story of revolution from the perspective of those who lived it. L'isola che C'e will mark the first public exhibition of "The Island of Che" anywhere in the world.

"Italian culture has deep roots in Sicily," remarked David Guido Pietroni, art director of L'isola che C'e Festival. "It's fitting, then, that we have chosen Palermo to host this remarkable event. Designing and producing L'isola che C'e has been one of the most emotionally involving experiences of my life."

Pietroni brings a wealth of experience to his role as arts director. Among other accolades, he has received two Grammy Award nominations and is today a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

Sharing Pietroni's vision for the festival is Effeto Arte Publisher Sandro Serradifalco. "Palermo is the city I call home, and I have always dreamed of an event where artists and the public could meet in a festive atmosphere, exchange ideas, rejuvenate each other and be transported by the power of music and imagination. That dream is the foundation of L'isola che C'e, which I believe will be more than the sum of its many parts. The festival will mark a unique convergence of music and color, a 'happening' between artists and audience that will transform Palermo into a temple of beauty and wonder."
