Cinemeet App Revolutionizes Dating at the Movies

Cinemeet App Revolutionizes Dating at the Movies

SAN DIEGO, June 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Cinemeet just recently launched a Tinder like app to help people go on a date at the movies. Now the company is funding its international growth by announcing an equity crowdfunding campaign on the crowdfunding platform FundedByMe.

CEO John Corcoran started the company after coming up with the idea at a hackathon competition. Together with other app developers he wanted to create a fun dating concept that focused on the physical meeting instead of just a virtual meeting.

The idea received support from more than 30 investors when John chose to publish the company's first crowdfunding campaign in 2014. A month ago the idea became reality when the app launched on App Store.

Today Cinemeet has a small but growing number of users in Sweden, United States and Germany.

Cinemeet charges its users $4.95 per actual movie date. If a date is canceled or the date does not show up the user can then claim a refund that can then be used on a new date. Cinemeet says it is a better business compared to paying for a subscription each month and not knowing if it will lead to any real dates.

Cinemeet believe there is a worldwide market for the app and are aiming to reach 1 million active users in 2 years.
