41st Annual N.J. Young Filmmakers' Festival To Premiere At Edison National Historical Park On May 30

JERSEY CITY, N.J., May 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The 41(st) annual New Jersey Young Filmmakers' Festival will premiere on Saturday, May 30 at 3:00 p.m. at the home of Thomas Edison's film studio, the Black Maria, at Thomas Edison National Historical Park, 211 Main Street in West Orange.

The premiere with feature an awards ceremony as well as screenings of winning selections chosen by an accomplished jury of filmmakers and media professionals, including Boris Gavrilovic, Cali Macchia, Risa Pappas, and Chriss Williams.

Founded in 1981, the Young Filmmakers' Festival is a project of the Thomas A. Edison Media Arts Consortium, an independent, non-profit organization operating in association with the New Jersey City University (NJCU) Department of Media Arts. The Festival recognizes, celebrates, and encourages emerging student talent in New Jersey, the state in which Thomas Edison first developed the motion picture at his laboratory, dubbed the "black maria" film studio, in West Orange.

The Festival provides young filmmakers, who either reside or attend school in New Jersey, with opportunities to screen their works and have them evaluated by prominent representatives in media arts. Past New Jersey Young Filmmakers' Festival events have included green screen production and editing workshops at NJCU, and screenings and awards programs at the Hoboken Historical Museum, NJCU, and the AMC Theater in West Orange.
