- Viewers Invited To Have Their Say About Potential New TV Series -

HALIFAX, April 9, 2015 /CNW/ - Many people fantasize about escaping their daily lives and travelling to far away destinations. The Moreland family isn't just living that dream, they're sharing it with dozens of men and women from across Canada and around the world.

Now available on Discovery.ca, Tall Ship Odyssey is a new five-episode Canadian web series following Captain Daniel Moreland, his wife Tammy, their two-and-a half year old son Dawson, and a 35-member crew during an epic 30-month voyage around the world. Their floating home is the tall ship Picton Castle, which has travelled nearly 50,000 nautical miles and visited two dozen countries since setting sail from Lunenburg, Nova Scotia in November 2012.

Sailing around the world isn't the tropical vacation that one might imagine. Daily life aboard this 179 foot square rigged training ship requires not only physical strength and mental stamina, but also the ability to put the needs of the ship and shipmates first. Getting seasick or working high up in the rigging is something some crew members never get used to. For others, having no privacy, limited personal space, and no connection with the outside world for weeks at a time is more than they can handle.

"Living and working aboard a tall ship is a life changing experience that few people ever have the opportunity to try," says producer Edward Peill. "The Moreland family is leading a truly unique life that we hope resonates with viewers so we can share their next voyage on TV."

Viewers have until April 30 to watch the webisodes and complete a brief survey that could help determine if the Moreland family's next sailing adventure will become a new TV series.

Tall Ship Odyssey was developed with funding support from the Bell Fund and the Canada Media Fund and produced by Tell Tale Productions Inc. in association with Discovery Canada.
