CIVIS Media Prize 2015: 21 Programmes Nominated
COLOGNE, Germany, April 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
21 radio, film, television and online presentations have been nominated for the
European CIVIS Media Prize for Integration and cultural Diversity 2015. A total of 700
programmes from 21 EU countries and Switzerland were entered for the competition.
Westdeutsche Rundfunk received four nominations. Two nominations each went to Swiss Radio
and Television and Bayerische Rundfunk. One nomination each went to Hessische Rundfunk,
Rundfunk Berlin Brandenburg, the university radio mephisto 97.6, the Nederlandse Omroep
Publieke, BBC Scotland, the ORF and Telecinco in Spain. In the area of online
presentations and online video, websites in Germany, Italy and the Netherlands have been
nominated.
The European Young CIVIS Media Prize has been awarded to the Filmakademie
Baden-Württemberg.
The new CIVIS prize of honour for journalistic sustainability and moral courage goes
to a radio production of Mitteldeutsche Rundfunk.
CIVIS prize-giving ceremony at the EuropeanParliament
The European CIVIS Media Prize for Integration and Cultural Diversity will be awarded
on May 7, 2015, at an official TV gala at the European Parliament in Brussels. The
ceremony will be attended by around 400 high profile guests from the media and politics.
CIVIS patron is the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz.
Presenter of the TV gala will be the science journalist and physicist Ranga Yogeshwar.
Europe's leading media prize for integration and cultural diversity will be awarded as
a European TV Prize in the categories of information and entertainment, as well as a
magazine prize. The European Radio Prize honours German-language programmes from the EU
and Switzerland. With the CIVIS Online Media Prize, an award is added for journalistic web
presentations such as web videos on migration, integration and cultural diversity. The
Young CIVIS Media Prize is awarded as European sponsorship prize.
The CIVIS Cinema Prize will be presented for the second time as an audience award for
European feature films in German cinema. The online voting ends on the Internet on April
20, 2015.

(ARD), represented by Westdeutsche Rundfunk, together with the Freudenberg Foundation. The
Austrian Broadcasting Corporation, the Swiss SRG SSR, the Deutsche Welle, Slovenian Radio
and Television, Deutschlandradio, the German-French culture channel ARTE, 3sat, PHOENIX
and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) are media partners.
