Students From Across The Country Compete Today In Bright House Networks Bright Ideas STEM Competition
ORLANDO, Fla., March 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The six finalists from Bright House Networks Bright Ideas STEM from Today's Youth competition will compete head-to-head today at 3 p.m. in a "shark tank-like" competition in front of a live studio TV audience, at the Finalist Pitch Event at The Ballroom at Church Street in Orlando, FL. Bright Ideas STEM, a multi-state competition for high school students, challenged students to dream up the coolest inventions to make their own life, community or even the world, more awesome... and show how STEM - that's science, technology, engineering and math, can bring their idea to life.
During the competition, each finalist will have no more than six minutes to pitch their ideas to a panel of experts, who will select one lucky winner. The competition judges include:
-- Kathy Chiu, COO, Florida Angel Nexus
-- Scott Faris, CEO, Astralis Ventures
-- Leslie Hielema, Vice President, the Orlando Center at Florida Institute
of Technology
-- Todd Rovak, Managing Partner, Fahrenheit 212
The program will be recorded and available via Video on Demand (VOD) on Bright House Networks at a later date.
The Bright Ideas STEM finalists competing today represent each of Bright House Networks six service areas:
-- Bakersfield: "Wireless Charging for Electrical Vehicle Transportation"
William Schallock, Bakersfield High School
-- Birmingham: "OMNI Project" Braniya Hunter, Desiree Brooks and Khalid
Lucas, Center Point High School
-- Central Florida: "Registarme. Select. Speak. Simple." Ashley Chico, Lake
Highland Preparatory High School
-- Indianapolis: "Mechanized Eye Dropper" Vikas Maturi, Carmel High School
-- Livonia: "Project Cast Away" Sean Kerrigan and Raymond Schade,

One Grand Prize Winner will be chosen and will have the chance to work with leading innovation firm Fahrenheit 212 in New York to build a virtual prototype and a business plan - which means this student's dream or idea could potentially be realized and fulfilled!
"It will be an inspirational afternoon as we hear the creative innovations these students have developed that could possibly change our world as we know it," said Kimberly Maki, corporate vice president, corporate communications and public relations, Bright House Networks. "Bright House Networks is proud of all of the amazing students who entered ideas in our Bright Ideas STEM from Today's Youth competition, and we wish our finalists the best of luck today."
