Prominent, Veteran Independent Promoter Jack Orbin Leaves Wisdom & Legacy

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, Feb. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- A forty-three year business career is coming to an end for Jack Orbin, who is retiring victorious over corporate conglomerate concert promoters that have driven ticket prices sky-high for patrons and driven out most regional promoters from the concert business.

His company, Stone City Attractions, has promoted shows encompassing the entire spectrum of entertainment. The walls of his San Antonio office are adorned with Rock history. He was the man behind the scenes of concerts that created lifetime memories for fans of groups like Journey, The Rolling Stones, U2, Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Bob Dylan, and more.

Jack Orbin had a personal revolution that manifested itself into his business, industry, and charitable causes. As a young man, he became a conscientious objector to the Vietnam War. He attributes his prosperous and successful survival in the music industry to his working-class upbringing and his spiritual awakening while living in the mountains of Colorado and also to his relationship with rock impresario, the late great Bill Graham, whom he emulated.

He has worked with just about every major artist including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Michael Jackson, Joe Cocker, Sex Pistols, Black Sabbath, Diana Ross, Bill Maher, Fleetwood Mac, U2, Santana, ZZ Top, Eric Clapton, Simon & Garfunkel, etc. From getting Ozzy out of jail after the infamous Alamo incident to blocking rock censorship alongside Frank Zappa, Dee Snider, etc., Stone City Attractions and Jack Orbin have always fought the good fight.

He laughs about not being able to keep tickets under $3 dollars, a pledge he once made in his early years. It's with disappointment to him that radio and concerts are in a state of decline because corporate influence and corporate profiteering has turned them into homogenic puppets. However, he leaves the music industry as one of the savviest and most customer-centered movers and shakers it has ever produced. Today, he believes that there is an opening for new independent promoters to take the baton in today's upside down state of the industry and still succeed.

Ahead, he will continue raising consciousness about injustice in the music industry, local and national social justice causes and anti-war work. He thanks his family, his loyal staff, bands, and his ticket patrons for giving him the freedom to Rock the Industry the Jack Orbin way.

Jack Orbin was inducted into the Texas Legacy Music Hall of Fame in 2013. A lifetime achievement video honoring Jack Orbin for his charitable contributions, which now total over $1.1 million, can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rwQmjmyGn0&feature=related. Organizations benefiting from Stone City Attractions' charitable contributions include Guns for Tickets, Food Banks, Katrina Victims, Homeless Assistance, Little Kids Rock and non-profits helping children with special needs through music therapy, etc.
