--Only Rentrak Precisely Measures Movies & TV Everywhere--

PORTLAND, Ore., Feb. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Rentrak (NASDAQ: RENT), the leader in precisely measuring movies and TV everywhere, today announced the top weekly cross-platform entertainment rankings for Feb. 11, 2015.

Paramount's "SpongeBob Squarepants: Sponge Out of Water" cleaned up at the worldwide box office this weekend soaking up an impressive $72.2 million in 26 territories and charming family audiences across the globe. Warner Bros.' sci-fi epic "Jupiter Ascending," the latest from the Wachowski's is the number one film internationally this weekend, earning a solid $32.5 million in 65 countries. This amount combined with $19 million in its North American debut gave the big budget sci-fi film a second place global weekend total of $51.5 million.

In North American box office action, the first part of the year has been heavy on Oscar contenders, adult dramas and movies aimed at older audiences which opened the door for the family-friendly "SpongeBob Squarepants: Sponge out of Water" to draw huge box office dollars at the multiplex. Opening with a staggering $55.4 million, the Paramount release is the follow up to the Nov. 2004 release of the first "Spongebob" movie that opened with $32 million on its way to a $85.4 million grand total in North America.

In DVD and Blu-ray Disc sales, three newcomers top the chart as Sony's WWII drama "Fury" leads the charge followed by the PG-rated animated comedy from producer Guillermo del Toro, "The Book of Life." PBS' "Downton Abbey: Season 5" is a strong performer--landing in the third spot in its debut. In DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals, Sony's "Fury" also takes the top spot followed by long-time rental favorite "The Equalizer" from Sony now in its fifth week on the chart.

The Movies on Demand chart is also "Fury-ous" as Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf take charge in the WWII tank drama "Fury," directed by "Training Day" writer David Ayer. Second place goes to Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall in the legal drama "The Judge" followed by Scarlett Johansson in director Luc Besson's action-packed "Lucy."

On the digital movie purchases and rentals chart, Fox's "Gone Girl" continues to hold onto the top position, now in its fifth week of release. Fox has seven of the top 20 titles for the week, largely driven by the continued success of "Gone Girl" and "The Drop," starring the late James Gandolfini--sadly in his final movie performance, which debuted at the third position. Sony's "The Interview" climbed up the charts into the second spot, now in its fifth week of release digitally.

VH1's "Love and Hip Hop" followed by Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" top our cable TV engagement chart.

Meanwhile, Telemundo's "Duenos del Paraiso" is a newcomer to the top spot on our broadcast TV engagement listings and is followed in second place by ION's "Blue Bloods."

Finally, the top spot for social media and digital engagement for viewers of broadcast and cable telecasts goes overwhelmingly to ESPN2's "2015 Australian Open Tennis" followed by "The Walking Dead" on MyNet.
