'TV Ready' Media Organisation Globelynx Looks to Easynet in Order to Meet Demand for Real-Time Content
LONDON, December 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Globelynx [http://www.globelynx.com/index.htm ] has selected Easynet to deliver a new
high performance IP Broadcasting solution so that it can effectively respond to increasing
demand from their customers for real-time content.
Globelynx is part of the Press Association group and is known for its reliability and
credibility. It connects a growing list of corporate clients to TV news broadcasters
worldwide via its remotely monitored, purpose-built camera systems. It enables customers
to maximise their exposure and brand on television from the comfort of their own office.
For those clients that already have their own in-house studios or cameras, Globelynx can
offer them the capability to seamless connect to the world's leading TV networks via its
fully managed and monitored network.
Based on an excellent track record delivering IP Broadcasting services to well-known
brand names, such as Sky News, Sky Sports News, MTV and Comedy Central, Globelynx chose
Easynet to replace their existing baseband network with a fully managed IP Broadcasting
service.
This new service will enable Globelynx to share real-time HD content across a secure
IP network, fully integrated with cameras at 80 sites. Moving to IP will give Globelynx a
strong competitive edge in next-generation content delivery, as its built-in security and
vast capacity make it perfect for the delivery of future content. Additionally, when
compared to legacy technology a new IP-based network will deliver significant costs
savings, as well as offering enhanced levels of reliability.
The service was designed in collaboration with Techex[1] and leverages Haivision's
Makito X encoders and decoders which enable the delivery of high quality, bi-directional
video directly to broadcast studios.
To further enhance its services to broadcasters, Globelynx has outsourced to Easynet a
fully-managed automated scheduling system as well as transcoding services through its
Video Network Operations Centre, so that live on-camera interviews can be scheduled
quickly and efficiently.
Adrian Thirkill, UK MD, Easynet Global Services said: "We've worked closely with
Globelynx to understand the issues faced by them and their partners. Reliability and speed
of delivery are absolutely critical - you can't have a board member from a FTSE100 company
cut out on live TV in the middle of an announcement because the network is experiencing
latency." He continued, "Broadcasters need to keep up with the viewing public's voracious
appetite for the latest high-definition, as-it-happens content. IP Broadcasting is the
key, pushing content to broadcasters faster than ever before and removing latency, jitter
and pixellation to guarantee outstanding quality. Rolling out IP Broadcasting will not
only help Globelynx protect its revenue streams, but propels it to the forefront of the
industry".
David FitzGerald, CEO of Globelynx said, "Easynet has a media portfolio which includes
some impressive names in the industry. The team showed great empathy when it came to our
business issues and objectives, and we loved the fact they were transparent enough to put
us in touch with their existing customers, so they could share their experiences with us
directly". He continued, "Digital media has led us to expect instant, flawless
multiplatform delivery. More of us are watching news on our tablets and PCs, and now if we
read a story on Twitter, we'll frequently head across to a news website to validate it
with text or video, then to another site to source a different perspective. With video
content expected to make up 79% of the world's online traffic by 2018[2], there's more
demand than ever for real-time interview content, and more places than ever to access it.
We're confident that the switch to IP Broadcasting will help us strengthen our foothold in
this dynamic industry".
