Suzanna Choffel Posts Music Video For "Raincloud," Sets Sights on Next CD with Demo Sessions at BMG in NYC

Video Features Broadway's Noah Racey in 'Film Noir' Dance Production Number

"All the vibe in the world" --Rolling Stone

NEW YORK, Nov. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Emerging singer-songwriter/guitarist Suzanna Choffel has posted a new music video for the R&B-infused track "Raincloud," from her recent album Archer (Red Parlor Records). Filmed beneath the Brooklyn Bridge on two nights in spring and summer rain, the video achieves a film noir effect featuring Choffel as the femme fatale stepping out with her underworld counterpart and dancing 'raincloud,' performed by one of Broadway's leading choreographers and dancers, Noah Racey (Follies, Thoroughly Modern Millie).

The production was conceived by fellow choreographer/dancer Whitney G-Bowley with director F. Pozzo and producer/art director Irma Sierra. In it, Choffel is surrounded by an array of New York's top dance talent including Kelly Liz Bolick, Stephanie Campbell, Michael Fatica, Felix Hess, Lindzay Kile, and Brad Landers as 'raindrops,' in step with the song's lyrical storyline. The Choffel original features Big Sam's Funky Nation's leader Big Sam Williams on trombone and Da Phessah Drew Baham on trumpet.

Upon its 2013 release, Choffel's Archer garnered critical acclaim for its innovative blend of genres and Choffel's commanding voice. Choffel, whose signature voice floats on a spectrum between Feist and Erykah Badu, is sole writer on all but two songs, mingling R&B, reggae, pop and jazz into a thrilling and distinct sound that reflects her broad influences spanning Peter Tosh to Patty Griffin. Chosen as one of NYC's "Best Emerging Artists" of 2014, Deli Magazine raved, "Suzanna Choffel has huge chops... Think Dusty Springfield with a little more grit."

Choffel counts fellow guitarist-musicians Alejandro Escovedo and Charlie Sexton among her fans. Last summer she premiered a new song, "Hello Goodbye," live at Austin City Limit's Moody Theater in a powerful duet with Sexton, taped for PBS broadcast and airing on affiliate stations throughout 2014. Part of an "ALL-ATX" artist line-up, the concert program also features Choffel's dynamic live performance of "Raincloud" with full backing band.

In recent months, since returning from a tour throughout France & the U.K., Choffel has been focusing on writing songs for her next album, laying down demo recordings in the New York City studios of her publisher, BMG Gold Songs (a division of BMG Rights Management US). Her new material stays true to her signature style, and Choffel's soul is palpable throughout. Additional details will be announced soon.

About Suzanna Choffel

Having shared stages with the likes of Emeli Sande and Norah Jones, Choffel feels equally at home singing in a dimly lit, smoky club as she does in front of (literally) millions. Suzanna's award-winning songwriting and unpredictable path have landed her in the middle of the action in the indie film Catfish (now an MTV series), rapping with Ben Haggerty in her college years in Santa Fe, and winning over fans on NBC's popular primetime program, The Voice. Adam Levine calls Choffel's style "refreshingly unique," while Rolling Stone claims she's "a woman who knows her own voice," placing her in a sphere with Stevie Nicks and Emmylou Harris. With a name inspired by Leonard Cohen's "Suzanne," she grew up steeped in her parents' '70s LP collection and cultivated an interest in pop, soul, jazz, reggae and more, before leaving her native Austin, Texas for New York City. Now splitting her time between these two music centers, Suzanna has quickly established herself in the NYC music scene. "I got this real creative energy moving here," she says, high in anticipation of her brand new album.
