Mr. Harry Goodman was a musician and brother of jazz legend Benny Goodman and also a founder of Regent Music Corporation. Regent is now part of the Sunflower Entertainment Group (SEG), a music publishing and licensing company. The SEG catalog features music from popular artists, such as Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding and The Rolling Stones.
As part of the Trust, SOS Children's Villages-USA will receive a cash gift and partial stock ownership in three SEG subsidiaries: Regent Music Corporation, Jewel Music Publishing Inc. and Sunflower Music Inc. Popular songs in those catalogs, which SOS Children's Villages-USA now co-owns, include holiday favorites such as "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus," "Run Rudolph Run" and "Do You Hear What I Hear."
"After spending time in India and traveling around the world, my parents became committed to the cause of orphaned and abandoned children. My mother and I spent time at the SOS Children's Village in India, where we saw first-hand the important work SOS does and the impact SOS mothers have on the lives of children in need," said Jane Faulkner, daughter of Carol Goodman.
Hugh Faulkner, Jane's husband and a trustee for the Goodman Trust, explains that "Carol and Harry believed their children had a good upbringing. They wanted their money to help disadvantaged children and were delighted to leave such a meaningful legacy gift through their Trust."
"We are grateful for the genuine concern of the Goodman family towards orphaned and abandoned children. The Goodman family's gift will positively impact the lives of many vulnerable children around the world," said Lynn M. Croneberger, CEO of SOS Children's Villages-USA.
