Free film and video digitization program and Selena screening coming to Corpus Christi

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- /Texas Archive of the Moving Image/ -- The Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) is excited to bring the award-winning Texas Film Round-Up to Corpus Christi this November! We will accept Texas-related films and videos for FREE digitization at the Art Center of Corpus Christi at 100 N Shoreline Blvd from Friday, 11/14 through Sunday, 11/16. We urge potential donors to dig their family films and videos out of their drawers, attics, and closets and bring them to the Film Round-Up. To qualify for free digitization, participants must be willing to donate a digital copy of their materials to TAMI's archive for educational, non-profit purposes. The donor retains the copyright, and the video can be added our digital collection at TexasArchive.org. We also collect copies of already digitized Texas-related films.

Celebrate the unique moving image history of Corpus Christi with Selena under the stars on Friday, 11/14 at 6:30 pm in the Courtyard of the Art Center. Prior to the screening, we will show never shown before archival footage from the Selena tryouts in San Antonio. This event is free and open to the public. Bring your chairs or reserve a chair (free) online at EventBrite.com. Bidi bidi bom bom over to the Art Center and watch the magic of Selena in the moonlight.

TAMI will be accepting films and videos at the Art Center on 11/14-11/15, 10 am - 5 pm; and 11/16, 1 pm - 5 pm. Stop by to check out our exhibit on Gulf Coast film history and film preservation, and you can also watch historic archival footage of Corpus Christi and the area while you're there. The Texas Archive of the Moving Image, a non-profit organization, discovers, preserves, makes accessible, and serves community interest in Texas film heritage. By partnering with institutions and individuals across the state, TAMI digitizes and provides web access to thousands of moving images that offer insight to Texas history and culture.
