In addition to screenings presenting a new perspective of German cinema, workshops, roundtable discussions and other exclusive events will be organized to encourage both young and experienced filmmakers fromGermany and China to exchange knowledge and initiate mutual projects. The Festival aims to increase the popularity of German cinema among Chinese film professionals and the general public. It should arouse interest forGermany as a production site for films and strengthen networks between German and Chinese filmmakers and media industries.

It showcases four widely-acclaimed poignant films from 1994-2010 includingCherry Blossoms and The Whole Shebang - with a rare chance for Chinese audiences to meet the director and discuss her work.
Another highlight is the newly-restored version of Robert Wiene's expressionistic 1920 silent filmThe Cabinet of Dr Caligari. In the tradition of silent movies, the classic saga of a demonic doctor and murderer, restored by the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau-Foundation, is musically accompanied by the Aljoscha-Zimmermann-Ensemble, providing audiences an authentic flavour of the original screening. A similar screening ofThe Cabinet of Dr Caligari was one of the main attractions at this year'sBerlin Film Festival.
As part of this year's festival special screenings, workshops, roundtable discussions and further cultural events will be offered to advance cultural exchange between Chinese and German filmmakers and experts. The festival offers both young as well as seasoned film industry professionals a space for creative exchange and sets impulses for new ideas and projects, with special invitation ofFlorian Stetter (actor), Georg Maas (director), Stefan Droessler (Head of Munich Film Museum), Christiane v. Wahlert (FSK Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle der Filmwirtschaft GmbH), and Aljoscha Zimmermann Ensemble.
