SEATTLE, Wash., Oct. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- thePlatform, the leading white-label video publishing company and independent subsidiary of Comcast, today announced the appointment of Michael Kurtzman as Vice President of Sales for the Americas, where he will be responsible for leading the company's sales in North, South and Central America. Additionally, the company today announced that Jouari Santiago has joined thePlatform as Director of Sales for Latin America.

Kurtzman comes to thePlatform with more than a decade of experience creating and executing strategies to bring SaaS platforms, mobile applications and digital media products to market. Previously, he served as General Manager of projekt202, a technology consulting company, where he expanded the company's presence, and oversaw sales and delivery efforts in the Pacific Northwest. Prior to projekt202, he served as Vice President and General Manager at iLoop Mobile. When iLoop was acquired by Lenco Mobile, Kurtzman spun iLoop's SlingShop division into a standalone entity. Earlier in his career, Kurtzman held various sales and marketing leadership roles for SaaS and client services organizations, as well as general management roles at both large enterprise and startup companies, including Teleca, Sybase 365, Marconi, and GTE. Kurtzman holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He will report to thePlatform's co-CEO, Marty Roberts.
Santiago will lead the business development and sales efforts for thePlatform's cloud-based mpx video management system across Latin America. His background includes more than 15 years of experience in the digital video industry, developing and introducing next-gen video products for cross-platform distribution. Prior to joining thePlatform, Santiago was the head of product development at Shaw Communications, where he oversaw the company's broadband video strategies across its portfolio of digital entertainment properties, including Shaw Go, Shaw VOD and Shaw Media. Previously, he served as product development manager at Canwest Publishing, where he spearheaded the development of company-wide mobile strategies, video strategies, IPTV, and digital signage initiatives. Santiago received a Master's degree in Business and Marketing from the University of Liverpool. He will report to Kurtzman.
