Lang Van To Exclusively Represent the "Four Pillars" of Vietnamese Music's Golden Era

Music Label, Production and Publishing Company Bolsters Catalog With Content from More Than a Dozen Labels

WESTMINSTER, Calif., July 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Lang Van, owner of the world's largest catalog of Vietnamese music, announces the acquisition of the catalogs of what are considered the "four pillars" from the Golden Era of Vietnamese music: Che Linh, Nhat Truong, Duy Khanh, and Hung Cuong. The brand is now exclusively representing 90% of major Vietnamese record labels and sub-labels, which emerged out of Orange County, Calif. during the 1970s. From their traditional Vietnamese backgrounds to their Western influence, these four singers fostered the growth of Vietnamese music to create legacies lasting decades:


-- Che Linh (Tu Nhi): A legendary and well-revered performer in Vietnamese
music, Che Linh has been under the Lang Van umbrella since the birth of
the company nearly three decades ago. This acquisition marks the first
time he has ever transferred the rights to all his compositions, many of
which have become timeless classics. Studio collaboration between Lang
Van and Che Linh for a new album has also been confirmed.
-- Nhat Truong (Tran Thien Thanh): Lang Van also secured the exclusive
rights to all of composer Tran Thien Thanh's musical works. Tran Thien
Thanh, whose music has set creative standards for Vietnamese music since
the Golden era, is also known by his stage name Nhat Truong. This is
also is the first time the rights to his compositions have been
released.
-- Duy Khanh: Duy Khanh has long been considered a role model for aspiring
artists due to his ability to transcend musical emotions beyond words,
as well as his untiring commitment to music. Lang Van exclusively signed
the singer-songwriter to its label when he first arrived in the United
States, and proceeded to acquire the singer's own record label, Truong
Son-Duy Khanh, in the late '90s.
-- Hung Cuong: Remembered and admired for his confident and provocative
stage persona, Hung Cuong is the definition of a truly versatile
performer, whose works range from rock 'n' roll to pop music and
Vietnamese folk operas (Cai Luong). Lang Van is one of three major
record labels that he worked with; with the other labels, Thuy Anh and
Mai Ngoc Khanh, now under the Lang Van umbrella, Lang Van is now the
only company to own works by the artist.

In addition to new recording catalogs, Lang Van has also been chosen by prolific composers Tran Thien Thanh, aka Nhat Truong and Tu Nhi, aka Che Linh to officially manage the copyrights and licensing of all of their compositions.

The acquisition comes on the heels of a lawsuit filed by Lang Van in January 2014, in which the company named U.S. investor groups and a Vietnamese corporation as defendants in a case of copyright infringement.
