Clara's Big Ride for Bell Let's Talk visits Prince Edward Island starting tomorrow

Setting out from Moncton, NB on Friday morning, Clara Hughes is bringing the mental health message to PEI with events in Summerside and Charlottetown

MONCTON, NB, April 10, 2014 /CNW/ - Tomorrow morning, six-time Olympic medalist and Bell Let's Talk national spokesperson Clara Hughes heads to Prince Edward Island to spend the next 4 days sharing the mental health message with Islanders.

Today, Clara is in Moncton on Day 28 of her Big Ride for Bell Let's Talk, the unprecedented 110-day, 12,000-kilometre bike journey around Canada to achieve a nation free of the stigma around mental illness.

"I've had such wonderful and inspirational experiences at school events and community gatherings in Ontario, Québec and most recently here in beautiful New Brunswick. I'd like to thank everyone across the province and everyone here in Moncton today so much for their warm welcome and support for the mental health cause," said Clara. "I'm really looking forward to visiting PEI tomorrow and meeting with Islanders to share our mental health stories and talk about how we can all help transform Canada into a stigma-free country."

As part of her Ride through Moncton today, Clara will attend a welcome event at BMO Bank of Montreal, 633 Main Street at 5 pm. Everyone is welcome.

Clara will visit the following communities during her Ride through PEI:


-- Summerside - April 11 and 12
-- Charlottetown - April 12 to 14
Clara will start each day of the Big Ride in PEI with a presentation for youth at a school or community centre and will then attend other community events organized by local Community Champions.
