KUWAIT CITY, April 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

of programs is a "must" for media buyers in the region
Alwatan will launch their Ramadan schedule on the 27th of April at the Salwa Ballroom

Fadala, Haya Abdulsalam, Dawood Hussien, Mays Hamdan, Bashar Al-Shatti, Fatma Al Safi,

With original dramas and comedy, Alwatan's Ramadan TV promises to be some of the most
watched television during the Ramadan period. Programming also includes cooking shows,
talk shows, religious shows and the animation sitcom "Bu Qatada & Bu Nabeel", always
Alwatan's highest rated show and now entering its eight season.
The strength of this season's programs signals Alwatan's increasing commitment to
becoming the home of some of the most watched television in the Gulf.
Television ratings during Ramadan remain high well into the night, making the season a
"golden" period for networks. According to the market research firm Ipsos, television
figures typically rise across the Middle East by around 30% during the first two weeks of
Ramadan.
Last Ramadan Alwatan was the highest rated channel amongst Kuwaitis in Kuwait. In
January it was rated the most watched channel in Kuwait. It also retained 9 of the top 10
most watched shows in Kuwait.
"We know that the time families spend together at Ramadan is special and our line up
this year is going to be a magnet for audiences across the GCC."
Majed Al Asfour, General Manager Alwatan.
Like ad breaks during the Superbowl, the cost of a 30-second advertisement during peak
Ramadan viewing hours is at a premium, sometimes more than double the normal rate.
According to the Pan Arab Research Center, the amount spent in 2012 for Ramadan television
advertising exceeded a forecast of US$420 million, out of an estimated $1.98 billion for
the total Arab television advertising market for the same year. Brands such as Zain, Pepsi
and Mobily usually top the list of advertiser in Saudi. In 2012, Pepsi spent $91 million
on Pan-Arabic television spots, Coke $40 million, and telephone companies like Vodafone
and Etisalat spent between $40 and $50 million each.
